FAQs

How long and how frequent are therapy sessions?

The initial session will last for one hour and subsequent sessions will be 50 minutes. While most patients engage in weekly therapy, the frequency will be determined between you and your therapist.

What if I have to cancel?

This practice has a 24-hour cancellation policy. This means that if you need to cancel your appointment, please inform the therapist 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. If 24 hours is not given the full session fee will be charged to your credit card on file. Of course, we know that emergencies happen and will work with you if a situation arises.

Can I text my therapist?

Texting is not a confidential way to communicate, however it may be used for non-confidential information such as scheduling and weather updates. Please call with anything confidential in nature. Email is great for appointment changes and non-confidential updates. Your privacy is important!

I'm nervous for my initial session, what can I expect?

Feeling nervous before your first therapy session is completely normal. We prioritize creating a supportive and non-judgmental environment to help you feel at ease. During the session, your therapist will ask you to share your reasons for seeking therapy, concerns, and goals. Active listening and a safe space for self-expression will be provided. Your therapist will explain their therapeutic approach and discuss strategies that align with your needs. By the end of the session, you can expect to have a preliminary plan for your therapeutic journey. Remember, therapy is a collaborative effort, and your therapist is dedicated to supporting your well-being. Goals for therapy can change as we change so feel free to share any specific concerns or questions with your therapist for a positive and productive experience.

What if I don't know where to start?

If you don't know where to start, don't worry. Our priority is for you to feel comfortable so we will tailor our approach to the style that is most comfortable. We can ask more prompted questions such as:

"What specific concerns or challenges are you currently facing?"

"Are there any symptoms or emotional experiences you would like to address?"

"Can you share with me what your upbringing was like?"

"What do you do to relax and manage stress?"
